Vivian Chih

I graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University (NTU) and later earned a Master’s degree in Oriental Studies from the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego. I am currently teaching at the NTU Language Center.

Since childhood, I have been passionate about English. After completing my undergraduate studies at NTU, I took several international exams required for overseas study, including TOEFL (112/120), IELTS (8/9), and GRE (Analytical Writing 5/6). My professional experiences include working as a private English tutor, translating four books from English to Chinese, and serving as a translator at a bank.

I have also studied abroad extensively—one and a half years in the UK and six years in the US—where I gained rich academic and cultural experience. During my doctoral studies, I worked as a teaching assistant at a U.S. university. Today, English remains at the center of my professional and academic work.

Hi, I’m Alex. I’ve loved English since I was young, and that passion has guided my studies and career. I earned my Master’s degree in Scotland and have spent many years teaching English to professionals in leading companies. Over time, I’ve seen how important English is—not just for exams, but for real-life communication at work.

My teaching focuses on practical skills: speaking up in meetings, writing clearly, and expressing ideas with confidence. I enjoy making classes interactive and relatable, so learners feel comfortable and motivated to use English every day. Because of my international study and work experience, I understand the challenges learners face and can help them overcome both language barriers and cultural differences.

What I love most is seeing my students grow—whether it’s giving their first English presentation or feeling more confident in daily conversations. For me, teaching is not just a job, it’s a passion.

​Hi, I’m Maxine. I hold a Master’s degree in English and specialize in teaching adult learners, particularly in the area of Business English. Over the years, I have taught professionals from various industries, helping them develop the confidence and skills they need to communicate effectively in international workplaces. My classes focus on practical applications—writing emails, giving presentations, leading meetings, and engaging in professional conversations.

I believe learning English should be both useful and enjoyable, so I design lessons that connect directly to my students’ work and daily needs. By creating an interactive and supportive learning environment, I encourage learners to practice actively and overcome the fear of making mistakes. For me, teaching is not only about improving language ability, but also about empowering students to express their ideas clearly and confidently. I look forward to helping more learners succeed in their professional journeys.
